NEW Enlight Collection Swatches/Review

Posted by csdferwEHRTJR Rabu, 18 Desember 2013 0 komentar
Last week, Sigma Beauty launched an all-new,  gorgeous, makeup collection themed around warm neutral shades. I've had mine for a few weeks now and couldn't resist digging in.
Let's just be honest, they kind of had me at "warm neutrals".

The collection consists of one eye shadow palette (twelve shades), three eye shadow bases, three lip glosses, three eye pencils, and three eye brushes.

So as I usually do, I really wanted to use the products and wear them at least a few times before writing this post.
Well, turns out, I've been wearing the eye shadows every day (other than when I do specific videos wearing certain products I'm talking about).  I'm super impressed with them.

Ok ok, so before I get ahead of myself, here's all the eye candy! Keep reading for more of my thoughts on the particular products.

$39.

These have INSANE color payoff and blend so smoothly, with very little effort.  It seems that right now, I have a ton of these "warm neutral" palettes to play with. From Naked 3, to Unzipped, now to Warm Neutrals.  I know, it's been a crazy month for palettes for me. But I'm really loving the variety in this one. It has such an awesome mix of matte and frost shades with perfect crease and blending shades, as well as nice highlight and lid shades to create tons of variety.  I've loved every look I've created with this and can say it's becoming a fast favorite.

$13.

top: Composed, bottom left: Neutralize, bottom right: Awake

It's no secret that I've been a fan of the Sigma bases since they first came out. I'm really excited about these three new shades. These are super pigmented, and work just as well as the originals- staying creaseless (with my super oily lids, which not many bases can do), and holding up well over time. By that, I mean they haven't dried out in the pots. Most cream shadows similar to these begin separating from the edges and shrinking up in as little as 6 months of having them. None of mine have and I've had my original ones for over a year. Definitely some of my favorites.  I can see the pink being in my daily rotation for a while.

$12.

top left: Peaceful, top right: Mellow, bottom: Serene

By looking at these, you can probably tell which ones I'd recommend as a highlight, contour, and actual blush.  These blend really smoothly and hold up well throughout the day.  As far as the actual shades, I think they'd work for a very wide range of skin tones. Especially the Serene shade (the rosier, actual blush shade). It has a ton of color payoff and can actually build very dark. However, you can apply it lightly and make it work for someone with a lighter skin tone as well.

$9.

top-bottom: Eclipse, Nutmeg, Vintage

I'm really impressed with these. I actually really prefer these to the other Extended Wear liner pencils from Sigma. These sharpen easier and actually wear longer.  These shades are super versatile as well. The formula isn't quite as soft as the Extended Wear, but sometimes I actually prefer that in a pencil liner because typically they hold up better. I just warm them up on my hand a bit first before applying them.

$10.

 top-bottom: Tranquil, Hint, Tint
(swatches below in same order from left-right)

To me, these are actually a really great consistency. I've always said that sticky lip glosses do not bother me in the least because they typically last longer. These actually hold up similar to a stickier gloss, but they aren't super sticky.  I'm pretty sure there isn't an exact scale for gloss-stickiness, but I'd say these fall somewhere right in the middle. Not super sticky, but definitely not that watery slick feeling of some. I guess it's just all a matter of personal preference. I'd describe the scent as very sweet. Think cookie dough or cake batter-ish.

So what do you all think? To me,  the stand-out products are the eye palette and the eye shadow bases. Those are definitely worth checking out.

As always, you guys can save 10% with the most current Sigma Beauty discount code (current one is always posted in the sidebar of my blog), DEC2013.

NEW Sigma Beauty Extended Wear Eye Liner Collection

Posted by csdferwEHRTJR Selasa, 09 Juli 2013 0 komentar
Today I'm bringing you my thoughts on Sigma Beauty's new collection of 9 "Extended Wear" eye liners.

They're available both individually and are also sold in color-coordinating "kits" of three (plus a brush).
I love the color-coordinating packaging. It really makes it easy to find the color you're looking for, rather than all-black packaging, searching for a name.

The individual eye liners are $9 each, while the eye liner kits (of 3 liners and a brush) are $33.
All but one of the eye liners are very shimmery. While overall, I'm not a fan of very frosted, shimmery eye liners (they can usually come off a bit softer and less pigmented than a matte formula), some of these I really love.
Check out all my thoughts and swatches below....

top-bottom:
Enlighten, Balance, Boost
*These three shades are available individually or together in the "Neutral" kit, along with an E21 brush.

Enlighten is a "shimmery soft gold" and a great shade to use in the inner corner or along the lower lash line for highlighting.

Balance is a "shimmery chocolate brown" that is a bit softer in pigment than a typical brown eye liner. However, it's got a lot of soft (not chunky) shimmer that really transfers and gives it a bit of something different.

I really love Boost. It's described as a "matte rich black" I actually wore this shade a few days in a row and found it to be really easy to apply and just as long wearing as some of my other favorite pencil liners. This one is my favorite in the collection. Not just because it's black, but because the formula is awesome. I really wish there were a brown equivalent of it in the collection.

Downplay, Declare, Drift
*These three shades are available individually or together in the "Warm" kit, along with an E20 brush.

Downplay is a "shimmery antique rust" shade that would look gorgeous smudged along the lower lash line to really emphasize blue eyes.

Declare is a very soft "shimmery deep eggplant" shade. I wish it were a bit darker to wear as actual eye liner though. While I LOVE purple/eggplant liners, this one is a bit too soft for me to use as an actual liner.

Drift is a "shimmery vibrant yellow-gold" liner that would be perfect along the lower lash line or even as a base for a really bright gold eye look.

Focus, Electrify, Flirt
*These three shades are available individually or together in the "Cool" kit, along with an E30 brush.

Focus is a really pretty "duo-chrome green-brown" that actually reads (without flash) a bit gray. It definitely changes a bit in different light (as duo-chromes do), and is actually a good shade to wear around the entire eye for a softer look.

Electrify confuses the heck out of me. It's described as a "shimmery royal purple" which it is, however, the packaging and product itself looks very royal, almost navy blue.  I think that's what this collection is really missing.  A good deep blue. I do really like this shade though. It reminds me of Parfait Amour by MAC. Good bright purple bases are hard to find, so this would be great to use under a bright purple eye shadow or just as well as an eye liner.

Flirt is a "shimmery vivid turquoise" that is definitely one of my favorites in this collection. The pigmentation is great and I love how the color reads far more green than blue. Good green liners can be hard to find.

So what are your thoughts? Any favorites you've got your eye on?

Sigma Beauty RESORT Palette Swatches

Posted by csdferwEHRTJR Senin, 18 Maret 2013 0 komentar

*Just a reminder that I'll be hosting a super fun meet-and-greet and afternoon of shopping at Henri Bendel at Lenox Square in Atlanta soon! For all details, check out the full post here. Hope to see you there!

Waaay back in January (ok, maybe just a little back) I got my hands on the much-anticipated limited edition Resort Palette by Sigma Beauty a little ahead of the curve. I've been so excited to share my thoughts about it with you all because to me, it's everything a colorful palette should be.

Seriously, let me explain.
Ok, so when you see this palette, you immediately think "fun" and "colorful". However, it makes sense. I've said it a hundred times, but one of my biggest peeves is when a fun and colorful eye shadow palette has no "workable" colors. Colors that you use to deepen and define the shades and the eyes (black, gray), brighten the eyes (highlight shades), and blending shades (tans). No matter how fun and colorful of an eye I create,  I ALWAYS pull for those shades as well to make it work.  So excited that this palette has it all. Not to mention a blush shade (think Nars Orgasm without the frost), a versatile liquid highlighter, and a fun double-sided eyeliner with an awesome pop of blue.

So when I travel or if I just want an easy go-to palette I can grab for everyday, I can reach for this and pack light. No need to pack separate "natural makeup" and "fun makeup" products. It's all there. Love it.
The pigmentation of the colors is awesome.

Muse, Fawn, Luna, Topaz

Papaya, Moonbeam, Neela, Midori

Dual-Ended Liner Pencil in Daydream & Earth Goddess

Liquid Highlighter in Luminesce
