On the cliffs Grebeni before the city of Dubrovnik is situated lighthouse Grebeni, which navigate ships since 1872. The lighthouse was opened to tourists as a vacation house. Cliffs Grebeni is a lonely, romantic place, which is located 300 meters from the coast. You can get it only by boat. Reef Grebeni is about 300 meters from Dubrovnik's tourist hotel complex. Lighthouse was built to have landmark sailors, according to which at night they come to the port of Gruz. Lighthouse Grebeni has a beautiful and spacious stone terrace and is located just 15 meters from the pier with a small harbor. Lighthouse is located near the sea in a narrow passage between two stones. Staying at the lighthouse offers guests the opportunity to stay alone.
Grebeni is a group of five small islands lined up about 300 meters from the coast of the peninsula Lapad, close to the hotel complex Babin kuk. It concerns a stark, rocky and very rugged islands. The largest middle island is 250 meters long and about 30 meters wide. The most interesting island is the last one, which is shy and far from the mainland about 1 km.
The lighthouse, which has been welcoming ships since 1872 includes a vacation house which along with the lighthouse extends over more than 140 square meters. The vacation house includes three double and one single bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, hallway with an attractive old water cistern (gustijerna) and two spacious terraces with almost 350 square meters of space set with folding chairs and parasols. Given the size of the house and the island, the lighthouse can only accomodate seven people. In addition to the breakfast which guests choose and create on their own and which is delivered to the island by a special boat at the agreed time, guests who choose this vacation experience are offered transportation to Dubrovnik's Old Town centre only 2.5 miles away by a luxury boat. Surrounded by natural beauty, Dalmatian landscape, stone houses, vegetation and sea, guests can, if desired, use all the amenities of the Hotel Dubrovnik Palace at any time, which, like the lighthouse forms a part of the Adriatic Luxury Hotels Group. The additional services include a butler, top chef, and an express service – ordering any household service by telephone from the hotel. As a special attraction, guests can enjoy an underwater trip to Taranto, an Italian ship which sunk about 20 meters away from the lighthouse in 1943.
The lighthouse is located in the immediate vicinity of a narrow sea passage between two rocks. Therefore, although in Dubrovnik, the visitors are offered a possibility of solitude as is unimaginable at other locations in the city...
Small steps at the moor make it easy to enter the water for adults as well as for children.
A stay at the lighthouse Grebeni offers a feeling of standing on a bridge silently guiding the approaching cruise ships, restlessly pouring in and then leaving Dubrovnik, only to return again and salute the guardian with a whistle from the ship's horn.
But not the Italian cargo ship ''Taranto'' which hit a sea mine in 1943. and sunk to the depth of about 20 meters. The tractors that it was transporting scattered across the sea floor and remain there today as if waiting for someone to start them and take them ashore where they may finally fulfil their purpose
