Well, I guess we survived the 2014 "Polar Vortex" around here. I still laugh a little inside every time I hear it called that considering we got ZERO snow that actually accumulated, but we had TONS of ice and frigid temperatures. It stayed in the low single digits for a few days... So 30's and 40's now (which we normally consider freezing cold in Georgia), now feels like a heat wave.

But seriously, I hope you all made it through ok. I realize that while tons of our neighbors and friends suffered busted pipes and property damage, I'm thankful that we made it out ok. All the stories of property damage, living with no heat and water, and all the other horrible things extreme and sudden cold weather can cause is always terrible to hear about.

But on a lighter note, I decided to do a look with a "Warm & Cozy" theme to help a little with these winter blues. So I filmed a more informal "get ready with me" type of tutorial and also shared my more realistic and cozy, winter-appropriate outfit that is still fun and fashionable.

O.M.G, you guys... Christmas is in 2 DAYS!! I can't even believe it! So before the holiday celebration gets officially underway around here, I wanted to share with you all one of my "go-to" party makeup looks, perfect for New Year's Eve! This would also be gorgeous for a Christmas Eve dinner celebration, or just any party in general, really. It's one of my favorite looks, and best of all, is super simple!

I also put together sort of an effortless and fun party look that works especially well in our neck of the woods, where it can get pretty cold on New Year's Eve.
Not that wearing a slinky little dress that covers a quarter of my body can't be fun, but seriously, I like to dress season-appropriate for where I live. I've always been like that.  So definitely don't feel like you have to go the typical sequined mini or tiny dress route for New Year's if it's freezing out.
You can definitely dress party-appropriate, fashionable, and be season-appropriate.
There's so many awesome options!

This outfit reflects my personal style perfectly... I'd like to say my style is effortless (not like I tried too hard or too trendy), classic, and with a bit of an edge.
Most of the elements are simple and chic (fitted blazer, silk top, leather tassel clutch), with one pretty trendy element.... the slouchy, tapered pant.  Oh, and a few edgy elements: the necklace, and spikes on the back of otherwise classic pointed-toe shoes.

So let's talk about these pants...

I'm a little obsessed with them. They're slouchy, tapered, and in a gorgeous crepe-y fabric that looks and feels really nice.
I also have them in black. They seriously go with whatever you put with them. They're just so easy.  The nicer fabric gives them much more versatility than a typical cotton knit style.


The bright fabric (these are in the shade "carnelian") provides a little pop for the outfit. That's a big tip of mine where New Year's Eve is concerned. Don't get lost in a sea of black clothing. Black is such a popular pick for New Year's. Stand out with a pop of unexpected color. Whether it's with fun shoes, a bag, or in my case, fun pants.

Out of all the hair videos I've ever done, this one is by far the biggest! Sure, it's almost 20 minutes long, but it contains a ton of info.

Let the Holiday looks begin!

So I figured since the first few days of December are upon us, it would only be appropriate to roll out the Holiday makeup tutorials. I have another planned for the month as well that is a bit different so keep an eye out for that too!

This one is very classic. Glamorous and glowing with a bit of sparkle, yet using natural tones.  It's definitely my go-to look for holiday parties or when you just want to shine a bit while still looking elegant and put-together.

In this one, I focus mainly on how I perfect my skin and the products I've been using and loving lately.  This routine is crazy long-wearing. Which for me, is really saying something since I've got oily skin which can cause some major problems where my makeup's staying-power is concerned.

I love wearing bold color in a way that is still super feminine, glamorous, and flattering. LOVE wearing fun-colored liners this way!

Over the past few years as a fair-skinned gal, I definitely haven't been about looking majorly "tan". I look back at photos of my high school and college days and absolutely CRINGE. I definitely should have embraced my pale-ness and maybe stepped it up a few shades for a bit of a bronze glow. But wow... looking cooked and fake baked is never a good look. Although at the time, I'm sure I thought it was amazing. Tanning beds should be against the law, just saying.

Oh well, you live and you learn. For me, I have a history of skin cancer in my family. So for years, I've taken my skin's health very seriously and gotten skin cancer screenings every 6 months. I cannot tell you how many biopsies and small surgeries I've had on "abnormal" moles.
Countless. I'm serious.
For me, I don't have moles that are raised. Just what appear to be flat "freckles" that are a bit darker. Those are the ones my dermatologist takes seriously because of my history, and the fact that some of mine haven't been "harmless".

So after going through that, I never UV tan. Totally not worth it. Plus, I like the idea of keeping my skin young-looking. So self-tanners are the way to go.
My issue is that I HATE applying them. They always stain my clothes and look unnatural in a few days.

Praise goodness I've found one that works perfectly for me! I'm so excited to share it with you guys!

...and Sheer Illuminating fluid. Seriously that stuff is like magic in a bottle.

Ok, I'm getting ahead of myself.
So I recently purchased two amazing products in the Soleil Tan De Chanel line...
The Bronze Universal and Sheer Illuminating Fluid.

These two products are genius, especially when used together.

Bronze Universal is a bronze cream product and the Sheer Illuminating Fluid is exactly what it sounds like. A perfect sheer illuminating liquid in the perfect shade of bronze. Both products are the perfect shade of bronze. I'm convinced that they will work with ANY skin tone.

Yes, mine is used and loved. Keepin' it real.
If the concept of a cream bronzer freaks you out, worry not my friend. I was there too. After using it for the past several days, I actually find it to be easier and more natural looking than a traditional powder bronzer.  After lots of experimenting (and several bronzed brushes later...) Happy Monday everyone! I wanted to start the week with a tutorial of my FAVORITE hair look from the Academy Awards last night.
As always, I watch the Red Carpet special before the show to check out all the gorgeous fashion. I wasn't planning on doing a tutorial on anything, but when I saw Reese Witherspoon walk the Red Carpet with her gorgeous side-swept "old-Hollywood" curls look, I knew I had to recreate it. It's actually super easy too! So if you've got a curling iron, you can do this, gals. The style will last all night and it's so versatile. From a romantic dinner, night out with the girls, to prom, to the Academy Awards, this look works anywhere!

To start the week off right, I wanted to share with you all a new and fab product that I've been obsessed with pretty much since the moment I heard it was in the works...
The Sigma Beauty Brush Spa Glove.

They're available in four different colors: Black, Pink, Purple, and Aqua.

So basically this thing is genius. We've all stood at the sink hating life while cleaning our brushes. Mostly because it takes a while to get them totally clean and rinsed completely. However, it's something that must be done regularly to extend the life of your brushes and to safeguard your products and your face from gross bacteria that grows within the brushes.

So this product is awesome because it was made with the brush cleaning process in mind. We've all swirled brush after brush in the palm of our hands, wasting soap and time in the process. This glove is awesome because when you use this to clean your brushes, it's got 6 unique cleaning textures on different areas of the brush where you would naturally wash, rinse, and refine the brushes. The nubs on the brush create a great lather so you don't have to use as much brush cleanser, which is a huge plus for me.

Even more unique about this product is that one side is specially designed for face brushes...


...and the other for eye brushes.

It's also got a comfortable inner lining for comfort.
