Our beach trip!

Posted by csdferwEHRTJR Senin, 31 Agustus 2009 0 komentar

As some of you know (mostly my twitter followers), I recently got back from a trip to Panama City Beach, FL. We usually go every year and had already been once a few months ago, but something about the weather and the ocean was extra pretty this time. The water was so unusually calm the first few days we were there which made it super easy to spot lots of cool ocean critters-- We saw stingrays and even a manatee! It was so fun. Here are a few photos of our trip!

It's my birthday and I'll post more dolls if I want to...

Posted by csdferwEHRTJR Jumat, 21 Agustus 2009 0 komentar
I know you are probably getting sick of my little doll posts, but doggone it, this new one I just did up is SO cute! And, this Pink Saturday, it really is my birthday, so I guess I will ask for your indulgence in putting up with yet another little doll. This antique bisque doll is larger than the ones I've done before, so I was able to be a bit more bold with the trims I used. This one has an antique silk velvet bodice and a very pretty scalloped lace trim skirt. Vintage rayon seam binding forms her belt, shoulder straps, and little rosette "dress clips". Topping it all off is a wonderful garland of vintage velvet flower trim at the hip and forming her headband. I just love her gold hair (not golden, really gold!). She is SO 1920's. And SO sweet.
Now, before I go off to eat my celebratory birthday sweets, I'm going to pop over to Bev's at How Sweet the Sound to check out the other Pink Saturday participants.
Until next time,

NARS Nail Polish in Orgasm

I've been curious about this stuff for quite a while-- LOVE the blush and lip gloss. Not quite sure why it took me so long to give the nail polish a go. Like the other products of the same name, this surely did not disappoint. Very opaque after 2 coats and warranted lots of compliments! Definitely a winner in my book.

Amazing Argan Oil

Posted by csdferwEHRTJR Minggu, 16 Agustus 2009 0 komentar

So this is a more "hardcore" review... almost 2 months in the making!
Over the past few months I've been using a new product that I'm so excited about. I had heard of Argan Oil, but I wasn't really sure what to do with it. In my mind, it was simply a body moisturizer. Got plenty of those. Nothing I thought I needed. So when I first got the Argan Oil by Josie Maran Cosmetics, it honestly sat on the shelf for a few weeks. It was something new that I wasn't quite familiar with and had no plan on how to use it. When I started experimenting with it and read up on it's benefits, I realized that it is truly a multi-use product. So first of all, I started using it as a body moisturizer. I used it around areas that tend to get really dry like my elbows. It absorbed super quick and left no residue. Then my mind started working--- CUTICLES. Yes!! I would try it on my cuticles. So I did and I was completely impressed. As with a lot of typical products as labeled as actual "cuticle oil", I get great moisturization and results, but it takes a little while to absorb. With this, it absorbs super quickly so I can literally apply it right before walking out the door, rub it in quickly, and get on with my life without oily fingers. Best part is that I get the same moisturizing results and my cuticles are lookin' super healthy.
Now my absolute FAVORITE use for this is as a hair treatment. I color my hair a lil' bit...I'm not gonna lie. With that comes damage, but I feel that there are ways that you can give your hair the moisturization it needs and keep it healthy. So I've been using this oil to give my hair a little treat. I've done this several different ways-- There really are no rules when it comes to this stuff. If I use it on damp hair, I'll rub a few drops between my fingers and apply it to the ends of my hair only. That way when I dry it, it retains it's volume at the roots, but looks nice and healthy on the ends. For more intense moisturization, I'll apply it generously to dry hair. Make sure you reserve this ritual for lazy days at home, or even overnight. Sometimes, if I don't have time for this, I'll apply it as soon as I wake up to my dry hair just as before, but I'll leave it in for about 30 minutes, then shampoo and condition as usual. It really is an amazingly effective product for hair.
Of course, as I said before, you can use this as a body moisturizer. On especially dry areas, or in lieu of your regular lotion.
Besides being incredibly effective, an extra little "feel good" to this product is that it is 100% organic. Totally and completely 100% organic Argan Oil-- Only one ingredient. It also has virtually no scent which to me, is huge. When you first apply it, it has a slight natural almost herbal scent, but when it's rubbed in, the scent pretty much disappears.
The most amazing thing about this product though is that you can literally use it all over your body and it delivers amazing moisturization. However, it leaves no oily residue on the skin which normally occurs with an oil. It also makes my skin look incredibly glowy and healthy.
I'm addicted. My body lotion hasn't gotten any action in a month because of this stuff.

This is honestly something that is totally multi-use. Yeah, at $48, it seems a bit pricey, but when you think of all it does, it's totally worth it. It's like a hair treatment, body moisturizer, cuticle oil, etc. all in one. So it saves counter space too. Which for a product junkie like me, is always a good thing! =)

You can find this product at Sephora or on josiemarancosmetics.com.

Nothing to Wear on Pink Saturday

Posted by csdferwEHRTJR Jumat, 14 Agustus 2009 0 komentar
I found this little bank at an antique show recently along with the "Pin Money" bank in the background. Isn't it the cutest thing you've ever seen? I had never seen a "Nothing to Wear" bank before, but here it is in all of its pink glory. It's in pristine condition. I should probably start putting my change in it for the fall and winter season-its a tough economy these days, but a girl's gotta look good, right? Well, I don't know if I'm actually going to put my pennies in this little cutie, but its going to look adorable sitting on my shelf.

While I count my pennies, you should pop on over to Beverly's at How Sweet the Sound to see the other Pink Saturday participants. Its always fun and always a bit eclectic with something for everyone.

Hope you're having a great summer!

Until next time,

Dark Room: Possibly Fall's best nail color...

Posted by csdferwEHRTJR 0 komentar
8/14

...in my opinion, of course :)

I swear, Sephora by OPI is still impressing me. I've yet to be disappointed by a single shade and formula. It's like the best of the OPI formulas...but with the better, smaller -ahem- NORMAL SIZED brush (we all know how much I hate the OPI wide ones...just unecessary). Anyway, This is by far my favorite shade yet! So unique and opaque. I honestly could have gotten away with one coat, but 2 made it completely opaque and streak free. This photo is of Dark Room used with absolutely no base or top coat (I was in a hurry).

My iPhone...I'm in love. (My favorite apps and accessories!)

Posted by csdferwEHRTJR Minggu, 09 Agustus 2009 0 komentar

About a month ago I decided it was time to make the switch from my trusty Blackberry to a super cool, trendy iPhone. I always kind of disliked them before. My husband has had one for a while, and I've just always been kind of "anti iPhone". I guess because it's just so different from what I was used to (...and deep down I think I secretly knew it might be better.). So I preordered a pretty white new 3GS since they had just come out. From the second I got it, it was so easy to get used to. Something about it was just so "freeing". I know, I know. It sounds corny-- But no joke, I felt like my Blackberry was always holding me captive or something. I feel like the iPhone is just more fun or something. Much more user-friendly. Anyway, I figured I would share with you some of my favorite apps and accessories I've been using over the past month.

First of all....cases. My husband's has been sporting a cracked glass for a while, so I know just how fragile they are. I couldn't imagine seeing my poor iPhone busted! So a case that fits over the phone is really the best way to go. Since I bought the white, I figured it wouldn't make sense at all to just cover it up. So I bought a sleek, completely clear one.

Case-Mate iPhone 3G/3GS Naked Cases (CLEAR)
(black phone shown, mine is white)
The main reason I love this case so much is the way it covers the screen. Lots of iPhone cases are bulky, but this one is completely flat over the screen and protects it with a paper-thin layer of plastic. The screen sensitivity is surprisingly EXACTLY the same with the case as it is without anything, which is another reason I love this case.

I also recently got the CUTEST little pouch made especially for iPhones. Ever since buying my phone, I had searched for the perfect little pouch. I found these online a long time ago when I was looking for a cute case for my blackberry. So when I bought my iPhone, I searched and searched for a cheaper (but equally as cute) case with no luck. But nothing ever compared, so I got the "Happy" iPhone Kangaroo Case by Plia
I LOVE this case. It's so bright and funky... Super easy to find in my purse and really protects the phone nicely. Only drawback (besides being kind of pricey) is that the phone doesn't fit into it if it has the clear case on it. So lately I've ditched the clear case and have just been using this. I'm a little paranoid about my phone being "naked", but I'm more aware of always keeping it in the case, so it works out. But it's so pretty! This design comes in a few other colors/designs, but I love how colorful and fun this one is.

As far as apps go, there are quite a few that I love. Honestly, it gets really addictive getting them and trying out new ones! Here are a few of my favorites:

Twitterfon - Twitter app
Showtimes - Find movie times quickly in theaters around you
SpinArt - Make pretty artwork on your phone...great when you're bored
SmackTalk - Brad and I are OBSESSED with this... CUTEST APP EVER.
Midomi - Recognizes the name and artist of any song. It saves the ones it's found too.
Blowfish - Cute and addictive
Waterslide - Fun and it's free!
PriceIsRight - SO FUN... It's so hilarious because it's exactly like the show
TextTwist - I've been addicted to this game for years! Had a version of it on all my past phones!
Bookworm - ...yeah, I love word games
CookingMama - So cute and fun. Love the version on the Wii. This one is a little different though
20Q - So fun...and kind of scary. It reads your mind
UNO - LOVE UNO.
Bloons - So cute...and honestly kind of challenging

Are there any other iPod lovers out there? What are your favorite apps? I'm ADDICTED to apps, so share your suggestions!

August MAC Collections!

Posted by csdferwEHRTJR Senin, 03 Agustus 2009 0 komentar
8.3.09

August '09
-8/20 - Makeup Art Cosmetics
-8/27 - Jin Soon Choi for MAC Nail Lacquer Collection
-8/27 - Flirt with Fall

August certainly holds some exciting things... I guess the collection I'm most excited about is the nail polish one-- Just because I think it's interesting that MAC is devoting a whole collection just to those, and they look amazing. However, most of you know of my little love/hate relationship with MAC nailpolishes, so I'm sincerely hoping that they have improved the formula for this collection. Of course, the Makeup Art Cosmetics collection looks exciting-- with the pretty colors and of course, the eye shadow quads (I'm a sucker for those). As for Flirt with Fall, I'm not too excited, just because it's false lashes and I don't really buy a lot of those for myself and my kit is pretty stocked with those. But if any interesting ones catch my eye in person, I might cave :)
Here are my little wishlists for the three collections in August:

Makeup Art Cosmetics:
It sounds like there will be some pretty lipcolors, but as always, I need to check those out in person first. The quads sound great--Except for In the Gallery, because it contains Lightfall, which in my opinion is one of MAC's most pointless colors. So even if the other colors in the quad are gorgeous, it will be hard for me to justify that one. I'm pretty much screwed where the individual eye shadows are concerned. Just because I LOVE eye shadows and I own only one of those already. So all the others are automatically on the list--unless they happen to suck in person. The bright colors of the technakohl liners have also seriously caught my eye... Saving begins now!

-QUAD: Photo Realism
-QUAD: Notoriety
-The Perfect Cheek blush
-Notable blush
-eye shadows: Crest the Wave, Off the Page, Haunting, Violet Trance, Maira's Magic
-Push the Edge pigment
-Technakohl liners: ALL of them, except for Graphblack

Jin Soon Choi for MAC Nail Lacquer Collection
-Dirty Martini
-For Fun
-Rich, Dark, Delicious
-Beyond Jealous
-Cool Reserve

(as of now, I'll probably skip the lash collection)

CONTEST ALERT!! Share your wishlists by commenting TO THIS POST. Don't worry! Take your time-- On August 5th, I'll select a random comment to win a Sigma brush set! :)
*Make sure you are following my blog to participate :)

Contest Closed! Thanks to all who participated :)

New at Our Cottage Garden Boutique

Posted by csdferwEHRTJR Sabtu, 01 Agustus 2009 0 komentar
Just a quick note to let you see some of the cute things I just posted at Our Cottage Garden. They just make my heart sing and I thought they might "sing" to some of my blogging buddies as well.

This is a precious vintage pincushion I found while out antiquing a couple of weeks ago. Can you even believe how cute it is???? Can you even believe I would sell it????

This is a vintage hanky box which I repurposed as a sewing box after I dolled it up with some great vintage wallpaper, antique millinery, trim, and then filled it up with great notions and a little bit of whatnot!

Lovin' the whatnot, especially this little bisque basket pincushion!

The top got a beautiful vintage millinery rose along with some of Heather's FABULOUS wide silk ribbon.

This little bisque doll is from Japan, circa 1920 or 30. She was in need of some clothing, so I used antique lace and old trim from the 1920's which I hoard like a mizer. I'm surprised I pried a couple of inches out of my little hand to make the bottom of the skirt! I think she is just precious with her little pouty face and pretty dress (and socks and Mary Janes, of course!).

Hope you are all having a great weekend! I am going to be playing outside with my family, so cross your fingers that the weather cooperates!
Until next time,
