Gotta be honest... All this cold weather lately totally inspired a fashion haul. So while I definitely picked up some cozy sweaters, I'm pretty proud that I also found a lot of really versatile pieces that would work for any season.

Well, I guess we survived the 2014 "Polar Vortex" around here. I still laugh a little inside every time I hear it called that considering we got ZERO snow that actually accumulated, but we had TONS of ice and frigid temperatures. It stayed in the low single digits for a few days... So 30's and 40's now (which we normally consider freezing cold in Georgia), now feels like a heat wave.

But seriously, I hope you all made it through ok. I realize that while tons of our neighbors and friends suffered busted pipes and property damage, I'm thankful that we made it out ok. All the stories of property damage, living with no heat and water, and all the other horrible things extreme and sudden cold weather can cause is always terrible to hear about.

But on a lighter note, I decided to do a look with a "Warm & Cozy" theme to help a little with these winter blues. So I filmed a more informal "get ready with me" type of tutorial and also shared my more realistic and cozy, winter-appropriate outfit that is still fun and fashionable.

Totally just realized I haven't shared any of my resolutions for 2014 with you all!  I've got to admit something here... I've totally slacked with posting OOTD's lately.
Of course, I share little fashion-y bits and pieces on Instagram here and there, but I really want to make it a point to get back into posting looks here.

Actual, non-iPhone-photographed looks.  I've always kept this blog pretty organic to what feels right to me. A little mix of everything. Lately, it's been mostly beauty things, as usual (at least 2 beauty posts per week) and one home decor post per week.  Not sure why the fashion posts have fallen off the map, but they're back! Ideally, I'm going to mix in at least one OOTD per week with everything else. Sound good??

K, on to the look...


First of all, it's been frickin' freezing around here lately. I like that this look works for both day and night. It doesn't look too bulky or "bundled-up", yet is still pretty warm thanks to the thick, well-lined blazer and thicker knit "skinny leggings".


Don't get me wrong, I love looking cozy and bundled-up sometimes, but sometimes when you're going to a specific event, or out to dinner, you want a more sleek look that you won't freeze your buns off in.



Keeping with the whole "secretly warm" theme, I threw on my warmest heels. Heels can totally be warm, right?

These are super thick and a bit hairy. Love.

Plus, whenever I wear red, I always love to mix in a bit of leopard.

O.M.G, you guys... Christmas is in 2 DAYS!! I can't even believe it! So before the holiday celebration gets officially underway around here, I wanted to share with you all one of my "go-to" party makeup looks, perfect for New Year's Eve! This would also be gorgeous for a Christmas Eve dinner celebration, or just any party in general, really. It's one of my favorite looks, and best of all, is super simple!

I also put together sort of an effortless and fun party look that works especially well in our neck of the woods, where it can get pretty cold on New Year's Eve.
Not that wearing a slinky little dress that covers a quarter of my body can't be fun, but seriously, I like to dress season-appropriate for where I live. I've always been like that.  So definitely don't feel like you have to go the typical sequined mini or tiny dress route for New Year's if it's freezing out.
You can definitely dress party-appropriate, fashionable, and be season-appropriate.
There's so many awesome options!

But first, here's all the details...





This outfit reflects my personal style perfectly... I'd like to say my style is effortless (not like I tried too hard or too trendy), classic, and with a bit of an edge.
Most of the elements are simple and chic (fitted blazer, silk top, leather tassel clutch), with one pretty trendy element.... the slouchy, tapered pant.  Oh, and a few edgy elements: the necklace, and spikes on the back of otherwise classic pointed-toe shoes.

So let's talk about these pants...

I'm a little obsessed with them. They're slouchy, tapered, and in a gorgeous crepe-y fabric that looks and feels really nice.
I also have them in black. They seriously go with whatever you put with them. They're just so easy.  The nicer fabric gives them much more versatility than a typical cotton knit style.


The bright fabric (these are in the shade "carnelian") provides a little pop for the outfit. That's a big tip of mine where New Year's Eve is concerned. Don't get lost in a sea of black clothing. Black is such a popular pick for New Year's. Stand out with a pop of unexpected color. Whether it's with fun shoes, a bag, or in my case, fun pants.

So begins another week...
However, because this week contains lots of turkey and yumminess, this Monday is a little better than usual, right? ;)

So you may remember my recent post and video all about the Sephora VIB sale. In that one, I mentioned some of my recommendations as well as a little wish list of my own of items I was thinking about getting.  Well my order came (and smashed, as my Instagram followers may remember), and I got some great stuff.
I also made a little trip to Ulta this past week.

So last week I brought you two tutorials on everyday things: My current foundation routine (check that out here if you missed it) and a tutorial on how I fill and shape my eye brows (yup, you can see that here too).  So to round it all out, I felt it only appropriate to do an updated tutorial on the full makeup look I've been wearing most lately.

This look is one of my favorites because it's easy, not too fussy, and is appropriate to wear anywhere. It's one of those "go-to" looks for me that I can do easily without really thinking and works no matter what. I love it!

I also love that it's also a bit different and not the typical more "natural" colors you'd think of most often for a more everyday look. The taupe-y purple makes it a bit different, but still just as wearable.

I also did a little OOTD in this one. I LOVE this jacket. Well, that and this whole look in general. I love that it looks put-together, but not too put-together, you know what I mean? Do you see a pattern in this post?

So I was looking through our photos we took over the weekend and I had to share...

On Saturday, I wore my new over the knee boots (that I'm absolutely obsessed with) and noticed my outfit was a really easy and classic Fall look. So Brad and I ran outside real quick and took some photos for an OOTD.
Meanwhile, Waylon was running around the backyard playing like crazy. We recently had the backyard at our new house fenced in so he could run around without us worrying about him taking off. So we probably spent half of the weekend in the backyard playing with him.  Of course, I took some precious photos of him.

So here's a few of them... Enjoy Waylon's cute-ness (and the bow-tie)





 Just a super simple look. Just realized I'm wearing all my favorite things... My favorite sweater, favorite scarf, favorite jeans, boots, and bag.  Crazy.

So I've been talking an awful lot about vests in my most recent videos...

I totally believe they are an item worth splurging on, as you can transition them from season to season and they totally make an outfit. They're also pretty timeless. Some of my vests I've had for years and they're still looking great.  I love how just by adding them to a different look year after year, I can easily keep them "on trend".

So even though I could justify a vest-y splurge, let's just be honest, finding a more affordable option I love is always better. I recently picked up this faux leather one at Forever 21.






When I showed this vest in one of my recent Fall Trends videos, I got a ton of questions wondering how the heck to style it. When you think about what to wear a faux leather moto-style vest with, it can sound a bit tricky. But where these are concerned I find it's best not to over-think it. Throw it on over anything! See how it feels.

I like to balance mine with more simple elements and a few super girly ones (like the leopard shoes, super sparkly bracelet, and monogram necklace).
