"We are doing a "Relay Across the USA" theme for our event this year! Every team will be adopting a state and decorating based on that state's best known attractions, culture, style, etc. Do you think you could do up a timeline cover that reflects that theme? It is for the Relay For Life of Utica, NY - June 7th & 8th, Noon to Noon at Mohawk Valley Community College (or just use MVCC if it works better for you). Thanks! "

Relay Across America

I actually misspelled "across" the first time I did this and just when I was about to publish it I saw I was missing the "r". Loud Noises! I got everything straightened out and I hope you like it. If I need to make any changes let me know.

PS: Looks like Relay For Life changed their website again and my account link is no longer working for donations and I don't see a place in my account to link to to take donations. I will get with my staff partner pretty soon I hope to address this issue.

Hi There! I came across your sight and I love your cover photos!! I am going to be participating in my 1st ever relay with my fellow work employees, and I was wondering if you could do us up a banner? I like the 12 hr wording one, maybe with a few photo prints on it, and if you could put our team name in bold letters that would be awesome! Relay For Life: Theme Game of Thrones

I have been a huge fan of The Song of Ice and Fire series by George RR Martin and when I saw Finish the Fight theme for next year I was like "Awww yeah!"

A only have a couple of things so far but I plan to make more when I get some time, whenever that will be.

I'm sorry. I really can't help it, one of these days I'm going to be in so much trouble, but hopefully Dr. Klatt will just be amused and maybe the Relay For Life of Tacoma can even use these.

Early Poster

Usually I just make one poster. Just before relay with our schedule of events. This year I thought I would make a poster for a few months earlier to encourage new teams in different communities.

Sometimes when I'm working on a project it turns out completely different than what I had fist envisioned and this was one of those times. I was going to use lots of banners and old school ribbons, but as i worked out those ribbons seemed to just get in the way and it just wasn't coming together. I thought maybe a quote would pull it all together and found this.

I really liked it and thought if I could change it up a bit it would fit my needs perfectly. However, the poster was still not coming together. It was just too much, so I took off all the ribbons which just left me one banner with the Relay logo on it. Then I took tweaked the quote to read;

"Tonight I will celebrate life, remember those fallen and fight back for those I love."

I added this quote to the banner with emphasis on Celebrate, Remember, and Fight Back. Now we were starting to get there, but it was missing something. Our Relay theme this year is Celebrate and I remember the candle logo on the American Cancer society and thought that would be perfect!

Thinking it looked great I printed it out and asked for opinions. I came back with it was still missing something. So after long thought I came up with the idea of adding some of the reasons we Relay behind the banner and kinda blended it in with the grungy texture (for long time readers you will notice this is my style). I think the finished product turned out great and they were right the script behind adds a nice element and hopefully it will help get new teams. If not maybe it will help you.

I made this poster in two size 8.5x11 and 11x17. You can download the 8.5x11 psd here. If you would like me to help you customize it with your info for you just let me know and as always Please help me reach my goal by donating to my Relay Fundraising page!

Note: I did ask for approval on the poster and my temporary staff partner informed me that the American Cancer Society lettering and sword always had to be white, so I had to make a quick change to the logo.

PS. After looking at it for awhile I see that my Harry Potter fixation manifested itself again. Don't you think it looks like a Hogwarts house banner?

Survivor Breakfast Advertising

I'm a procrastinator and the deadline for getting out the invites for the Survivor Breakfast was nearing but I had no ideas and the postcard needed to be made within hours to be in time to get it printed and sent out. So what do you do when you're stuck? Power up Google, that's what, but unfortunately it wasn't much help this time. I'm very lucky though and and inspiration struck in the form of a vintage postcard! I'm a relayer so there was no need to stress out it was just time to get to work.

If you have photoshop I uploaded the psd to a free service. I'm not sure how long they keep files but you are free to give it a try.
